About this item

Teak Sideboard by Malcolm David Walker for Dalescraft, 1960s

A compact teak sideboard made in the early 1960s by the small high-end furniture manufacturer Dalescraft in Yorkshire.
Good quality English cabinet-making in a design that is uncannily close to the work of Danish designer Gunni Omann.

Two sliding doors reveal cupboards with adjustable shelves. The rear door has a groove at either end allowing it to move freely behind the forward door and be opened and closed in either left or right position. On the left there are four equal drawers with delicately formed chevron handles.

Cleaned and restored with a Danish oil finish. Some small repairs to the veneer on the side panels (see photos). Light wear and signs of use consistent with age.
