About this item

This delightful large elm sideboard was produced as a storage container for flour or grain in Shanxi province, central China, circa 1850.

It boasts its original black lacquer finish, lovely patina and floral paintings on the the two central doors which have worn over the years and are now in pastel shades of orange and green.

The cabinet would have originally been accessed through a removable plank in the top, but this has been sealed and the four doors added using the old fixed panels to create this lovely large sideboard.

Use in a modern home as a statement piece in a dining or living room and benefit from the great storage space it offers.
