About this item

This impressive low sideboard is made from willow and poplar wood, crafted from an old, heavily carved daybed in the Xinjiang province of China, circa 1880.

The heavy carving is traditional of this province and it would have been painted in much brighter colours that have now worn to make create a more subtle look with pastel shades of pinks, blues and yellow, making this a delightful statement piece. The geometric carvings are influenced by the Muslim culture of the central Asian countries that border the province.

It will have been reduced in size, proportioned to make a more usuable cabinet and today makes a fabulous sideboard or TV stand and media unit.
