About this item

An excellent large, solid oak desk from 1938, probably from a school or a library. Stamped with date beneath, this is in good condition for its age, with great proportions.
Wide heavy top, tapering legs, three drawers.
There are areas of wear in the wood, minor repairs, and scratches on the finish but they have all been left on, as they should be for authenticity. The desk has been treated for woodworm.
The centre panel on the top was painted black at some point in its history, and is untouched by me. The rest has been cleaned and waxed.
The three drawers are in good condition and have solid brass original cup handles. The right hand lock is missing.
This piece is as you see it, with great patina and no renovation and has clearly been well-used and loved but that is its appeal.
Very solid and heavy, would look great in a home office, or even used as a kitchen table.
L60in; W36in; H30in.
