About this item

We are delighted to offer for sale this stunning monumental 18th century solid hand carved wood house keeper’s cupboard with panelled mirrors all over

This really is a substantial piece of furniture, its hand cut from huge slabs of solid timber, it dates to around 1740 and is north European. The cupboard has the original key which locks the top cupboard, both left cupboards have internal latches which can only be undone from the inside so when you open the right door. The cupboard has two large drawers which are mostly hidden

A later edition are the glass panels which are on the front and sides not back. These were most likely added in the late Regency to early Victorian era as was the fashion to repurpose older furniture

The cupboard has been restored to include and extensive three week worm treatment, the timber has been deep cleaned hand condition waxed and hand polished. This genuinely is a tremendous piece of furniture

Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition
Please also ask any questions before you bid and not after, all of our items are sold as seen and as listed
Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade
