About this item

This is an antique secretaire chest of drawers dating to the Victorian era c.1850.

Displaying the most wonderful grain detail in flame mahogany, the drawers are finished with exceptional cock beading, dressed with ebony pulls, fitted with inset brass keyhole linings and brass locks with key absent.

The second drawer opens on superior quality brass hinging to reveal the writing desk complete with inset green baize surface, a series of six cubbies that are flanked by banks of triple drawers and beneath two further, each showing kingwood veneer and accessed with modest turned pulls.

The chest's drawers are flanked by cylindrical columns terminating in later ball feet with the top displaying a good, aged patina, edged in flame mahogany and shaped to anchor the columns and frame the chest.

A magnificent cabinet with solid joints and construction, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
