About this item

We are delighted to offer for sale this stunning circa 1900 English Oak Bureau with drawers used by high ranking Freemason
This is actually a family piece which has been in storage for years, it was my grandfathers and he was a high ranking Free Mason, he did all his Mason work at this desk. He modified it rather oddly, the drop front writing slope has been inverted so the apple is upside down, he’s then fitted a lock, I’m not sure if there is any significance to an upside-down apple in the world of the masons
There is a paper label to the back which reads Reeves Depository Wokingham which also has a masonic connection, the full details on the man are as below
In terms of the piece as it is, we have a very practical solid English oak chest of drawers with a usable work area on top, it's quite shallow which is ideal for modern life, we have cleaned waxed and polished it from top to bottom, there is nothing negative to note

Height:- 120cm
Width:- 84cm

Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand-dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
