A 19th century large carved country Oak coffer chest / blanket box, the rectangular hinged top with opening to storage inside, with geometric decoration, amongst scrolls and raised on stile supports, comes with key and tassel, believed to belong Captain Henry P. Bailey - Congo Explorer, Bailey also known as ‘Bula N’zau’ (“ Elephant Smasher”) pseudonym for Captain Henry P. Bailey,was an adventurer and big game hunter. several of his original drawings are reproduced in his 1894 book about travels in what was then known as the Congo Free State, these sketchbooks provide an interesting account of the region during the late 19th century, looks amazing.
