About this item

Early 1960s White and Newton dark teak chest of drawers by Arthur Edwards
Arthur Edwards was a very successful designer for White and Newton of Portsmouth before leaving in 1964 . This chest is from the Aston range . It’s in very good clean vintage condition . As with all pieces in vintage condition of this age you do have to expect some minor wear if you look very closely . He worked for a number of companies over the years with great success .
White and Newton pieces from the 1960s are always lovely quality , and at this point they used a natural oiled finish . The wood is a dark teak called afromosia . Afromosia was never used as a veneer unlike the lighter teak that became popular by 1964 . This range appears in the 1962 White and Newton catalogue that’s in our collection .
