About this item

We are delighted to offer for sale this absolutely first class circa 1800 George III library bookcase with oval glass.

This piece has an absolutely stunning timber patina, its inlaid in the Sheraton style, the Astral glazing is rare and desirable being oval which is a thousand times rarer than any other shape as it was so difficult to cut.

This is a very high quality bookcase, if you look at the very top you can see its all hand sawn, you can see the blade marks. The shelves are all height adjustable and or removable. We are sure if you look through the Gillows of Lancaster and London Archives you will find this bookcase, its not stamped but its clearly to the same standard.

Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point, if you would like any additional or specific measurements please ask.

Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition.

Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
