About this item

Bookcase in solid Mahogany and Mahogany Bramble veneer, with detached columns, characteristic of the Empire.
It consists of four glass doors with solid panels recessed in the lower part, with pretty symmetrical drawings of birch mahogany veneered. They discover three spaces formed by the presence of two vertical partitions. Thus, in the center of the cabinet, a pair of doors opens onto a 90 cm wide compartment with three shelves. At the ends, two individual doors open onto two narrower areas (52 cm), each also furnished with three shelves but whose distribution is modular.
The structure of this Library has the notable advantage of being able to adjust the shelves independently from one space to another (see photo 24), thus offering better resistance of the latter and greater flexibility of arrangement, all the more that these are placed on racks.
This piece of furniture is supplied with its three keys, adjusted to the three working locks with which the doors are provided.
The top of this Library consists of a Cornice with fine moldings crowning an advanced marquee supported by four detached Columns in solid Mahogany. The latter are embellished in the upper and lower parts of bronze rings minutely chiseled in beaded friezes and flower decorations. They end with four wider feet with rounded bases. The two rear legs are straight.
Note that the sides also have a plum of Mahogany Bramble with a pronounced grain.
The back is in Oak and this piece of furniture is completely removable by a simple system of return screws.
We will appreciate the paradox of this Library which offers a large storage space on a reasonable height, thus allowing not to remove volume from the room it will occupy. This relative lightness is accentuated by the narrowness of the doors and their large glass surfaces.
