About this item

This is a useful antique piece which dates to the Edwardian era, made of mahogany the cabinet is ideal for books or for displaying decorative items. The cabinet is fairly shallow and tall, the front fitted with a double glazed doors. It would have once been part of a larger piece of furniture but is very usable in its own right and would probably look at its best hung on a wall.
The glazed door opens to reveal two removable and adjustable shelves which sit on wooden supports that slot into holes on the inside of the cabinet.
The cabinet sits on a shallow plinth and the top has deep graduated cornicing.I have painted the exterior in black chalk paint before distressing the finish for a gently aged look. The interior has been painted in a light grey/cream paint and distressed for a rustic look. The paintwork has been waxed for protection and has a smooth and tactile finish.

This cabinet is in solid structural condition but is fairly well aged. The top plinth has been repaired on the left hand side, there is a filled crack and two small wooden supports at the back to support it.There are various marks and knocks here and there and the interior has various small cracks, dents etc.One of the shelves has a couple of narrrow cracks and a small repaired chip to the wood at one end. There is no key for the lock.
