About this item

An Original Coronation Stool.
This was present in Westminster Abbey on June 2nd 1953
during the coronation of our Queen Elizabeth II.
It’s in excellent condition for it’s age. The original blue velvet upholstery has the odd slight mark but nothing significant. The gold braid is still bright and firmly attached.
The framework is in limed oak with wonderful chamfered legs. The coronation furniture was made by the British company Waring & Gillow who were known for their quality.
This stool is stamped with the number 139 and still has the label with the name of the guest, a Miss S.I.T Davies.
All stools were offered for sale to their ‘occupiers’ after the event for quite a considerable sum ..... the amount was described as ‘a week’s wage for a working man’.
A chance to buy a piece of history & a great investment.
