About this item

This is a set of mid century dining chairs with curved backs and black vinyl seat pads. Perfect for any living space, these beautiful chairs are made from teak. The chairs have a strong Scandinavian influence and are a classic example of mid-century furniture. Extremely comfortable, they are a perfect example of Greaves & Thomas’s timeless style.

Greaves & Thomas was a London based company with a history dating back to the early 1900’s. In the early years the company specialised in lounge furniture and upholstery. By the mid 20th century the company was producing a range of high end contemporary furniture – including sideboards, armchairs and even bedroom mirrors.

By the mid 1950’s and 60’s Greaves & Thomas, like many other British companies, hired trained designers to create contemporary furniture. Walter Cornell designed many pieces for the company during this time, his work featured clean lines and a Danish influence. In 1967 Greaves & Thomas was purchased by Schreiber to add quality and prestige to their furniture offering.

Condition is very nice and we’ve just had the seat pads re-foamed and recovered in black vinyl by a professional furniture restorer. All items of this age will show some signs of use commensurate with their age. Please ask if you'd like any further detail re condition.
