About this item

This fantastic looking mid century armchair was made in The Czech republic sometime in the 1950's
we bought it in Prague last month.
It is in In good condition.
It has the original red material . There is a little bit of discolouring in patches on the chairs (see pictures) this is just through wear this might come out with a clean.
It has been taken into consideration when pricing perfect I get £900 per pair for this model..
All of the wood is a mid-brown colour. There 30 springs in the seat which makes them a comfortable sit.
Jindrich Halabala was a professor of design and architecture in Prague and was a giant in European furniture design in the 1930s and 40s.
He strived to produce attractive looking furniture that was high quality and well made and he pioneered a technique and designed the machinery to bend large pieces of wood using steam and rollers. He was a designer rather than a manufacturer there were three or four companies which made these chairs across the Czech republic.
This particular model is one of the most popular styles I buy, I can never find enough of them in this good condition to supply the demand.
They are a fantastic looking pair of chairs which ever angle you look at them from, the outstanding design feature of these chairs is the use of one single
large piece of bentwood to make up the Long hope that makes up there arm.... this is the only design of chair that I can think of that does this with one single length of bentwood.
