About this item

Pretty shaped deep tub Victorian salon or bedroom chair with button back and rounded seat front.
This chair is a very good quality piece by renowned cabinet maker Cornelius V Smith of London.
The Smiths cabinet makers workshop was on a par with Howard and Sons.
This chair has the stamp CVS on one back leg. The front legs are turned and ringed, the back legs gently curving outwards to the rear. All the legs have their original pot casters with brass side fittings.
The current upholstery is in firm and useable condition in a creamy pale green brocade type fabric. There is wear and discolouration on the arms and the top of the back revealing years of use. With a throw across it, the chair will be fine. You might like to use it as an upholstery project for an advanced class or reupholster in a contemporary fabric if not to your taste.
