Staab&#8217;s work is testament to his passionate belief that every day furniture shouldn&#8217;t be limited to its practical function but be elevated as an expression of creativity and inspiration.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Staab loves to source individual pieces of secondhand furniture and examine their history, in particular those that are easily overlooked. During the redemptive process of passing through Staab&#8217;s talented hands, furniture that was once mass-produced and homogenous becomes unique and takes on an identity of its own. The artist says that he is particularly satisfied by the process of freeing a piece of furniture from its traditional use and turning it into something special. I am particularly fascinated by turning objects of utility &#8211; chairs, tables &#8211; and giving them a sculptural quality. It is the love for the daily things that we surround ourselves with, their unique shape and expression, that give me hope that not all is lost to pure consumerism and IKEA-lisation.&#8217;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>I became an furniture artist because<\/strong> there are so many beautiful items which are overlooked and I wanted to give them new meaning, to make them valuable and and instil a sense of individuality.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The designs which inspire me the most are <\/strong>soulful designs, pieces without individuality which have been transformed into art.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>My favourite piece <\/strong>is changing weekly!<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-2 is-cropped aligncenter wp-block-gallery-3 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\r\n<ul class=\"blocks-gallery-grid\">\r\n<li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\">\r\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-85540\" src=\"https:\/\/vinterioruk.wpcomstaging.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/large_fake-frankfurt-leather-lounge-chair-by-markus-friedrich-staab_0.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"85540\" \/><\/figure>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\">\r\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-85541\" src=\"https:\/\/vinterioruk.wpcomstaging.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/large_fake-frankfurt-leather-lounge-chair-by-markus-friedrich-staab_0-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"85541\" data-link=\"https:\/\/vinterioruk.wpcomstaging.com\/?attachment_id=85541\" \/><\/figure>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This mid century <strong>chair design <\/strong>was altered by Markus by cutting the back and layering it in coloured leather, creating this unique arty piece.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The best thing about vintage furniture is<\/strong> that you have great original design to turn into contemporary work without harming our environment.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The most challenging aspect\u00a0of<\/strong> <strong>life as a furniture artist is<\/strong> you can never know how things will turn out.
