{"id":82396,"date":"2018-07-05T15:04:47","date_gmt":"2018-07-05T15:04:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/vinterioruk.wpcomstaging.com\/?p=82396"},"modified":"2023-07-06T13:21:14","modified_gmt":"2023-07-06T13:21:14","slug":"art-collectibles-interior-design","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vinterior.co\/blog\/inspiration\/style-guide\/art-collectibles-interior-design\/","title":{"rendered":"Art, Collectibles &#038; Interior Design"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To start the month of July off here&#8217;s a review of industry happenings from June. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-82398\" src=\"https:\/\/vinterioruk.wpcomstaging.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/img_0585.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_0585\" width=\"2783\" height=\"2783\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Last month saw the partnering of two trade shows, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.olympia-art-antiques.com\"><b>Art &amp; Antiques Olympia<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.houseandgardenfestival.com\"><b>House &amp; Garden Festival<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Vinterior attended an interesting talk titled <\/span><b><i>Collecting Art<\/i><\/b><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; From Home Decoration Through to Investment <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and heard<\/span> <b>Vanessa Curry<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Owner of Fine Art Source, speak on the importance of collecting and displaying objects and art that have character, a story, a characteristic that resonates with us. Much like the idea of the <\/span><b>Schatzkammer<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a designated room to display ones collection,<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0it is not only to reflect where we have come from, and where we are going, but also our own unique style, interests and personality.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>Collection of Peggy and David Rockefeller<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> auction that took place in May saw their huge love for ceramics, with 67 antique porcelain dinner services offered at auction. Likewise the <\/span><b>David Bowie Private Collection<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> auction, that took place in 2016, saw Bowie\u2019s real affection and appreciation for important British Artists but also International Design with pieces by Italian designer Ettore Sottsass and the Memphis Group being offered at auction. It is the discovery of unique, characterful objects that build personality and bring alive a space. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mayfairartweekend.com\"><b>Mayfair Art Weekend<\/b> <\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a talk was held where <\/span><b>Kit Kemp<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Owner and Design Director of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.firmdalehotels.com\"><b>Firmdale Hotels<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, spoke on &#8216;&#8230;<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the relevance and inspiration art has had on her design and how pulling together work from unusual but inspirational sources can make any space more interesting.&#8217;
