About this item

For sale here is a vintage medical school anatomical model of
HEART & LUNGS
Made by the Deutsches Hygiene Museum in the DDR, Germany in the 1960's.
We have been lucky enough recently to meet a dealer in Prague who clears schools and colleges for a living.
This anatomical model shows the internal and external anatomy of the respiratory system (heart, lungs and trachea) the lungs and heart come apart to show internal anatomy.
The lungs fit back together by means of a metal screw/pin that fits into a hole on the opposite side, the lungs then hold the heart in place.
The mitral and tricuspid valves are made from cotton. Made from latex the condition is fantastic.
No longer used in schools, they now make wonderful decorative items.
Obviously this item is not new, it has been used in classrooms so there may be some light cosmetic wear.
