About this item

A thought provoking bust of an ancient Greek warrior.

The bust features a naturalistic old face with deep lines. The hair, and beard are both done very purposefully with separate strands all overlapping each other.

The purpose of this statue was probably to instill a sense of pride about the Greek army, and to illustrate the strength and wisdom that Greek men were expected to have. The beard is symbolic of wisdom, but the long hair is a sign of youthfulness.

This bronze sculpture would not only grace your study but would become the focal point of your interior.

Its timeless classical elegance can be plainly seen. It was cast by the Lost Wax or Cire Perdue process.

Lost Wax Method
sometimes called by the French name of cire perdue or the Latin, cera perduta is the process by which a bronze or brass is cast from an artists sculpture.

In industrial uses, the modern process is called investment casting. An ancient practice, the process today varies from foundry to foundry, but the steps which are usually used in casting small bronze sculptures in a modern bronze foundry are generally quite standardised.
