About this item

For sale here is an original vintage roll down school chart of
TOBACCO- JUNG KOCH QUENTELL
Produced by Frommann & Morian in conjunction with Hagemann, Dusseldorf, Germany between 1958-1965.
This beautifully illustrated chart of a tobacco plant is very hard to find, it was one of the JKQ charts that was changed by Hagemann when they took over sole production of these charts. I have only ever had it once before. The tobacco plant in full and in some anatomical detail can be seen against a dark background. Printed on paper and backed with canvas, this chart has a black wooden dowel top and bottom.
It has spent most of it's life rolled up in a cupboard so the colours are still fresh and bright.
Obviously these charts are not new so please check all photos before purchase.
There is often light wear that comes with use on these charts.
This chart is in good condition there are some very light creases and some signs of wear near the bottom and on the edges, but this chart is so rare it is easy to overlook any cosmetic wear. These old charts were produced as educational tools for schools and colleges by teacher Heinrich Jung, artist and biologist Gottlieb von Koch and college director, Doctor Friedrich Quentell.
First published by Frommann and Morian in the early 1900's Hagemann became involved in the production around 1961 first in conjunction with Frommann and Morian then on their own from around 1963. You can find modern reprints of these charts from many online sellers but they lack the atmosphere and history of the vintage ones.
These beautiful old school charts have been used as educational aids for the last 100 years or so. Since the introduction of computers and white boards to schools they have become available to buy, their availability has dictated their rise in popularity in the interior design world. They bring a lot of colour, warmth and charm to any room in the house.
