About this item

Although the first of the James Bond novels was Casino Royal, it was Dr No. that introduced James Bond, Agent 007 to the big screen. With Sean Connery as Bond, the 1962 British spy film was the first of a successful series of 24 Bond films. Produced on a very low budget and despite mixed reviews when it was launched, Dr. No has gone on to be regarded as one of the series' best instalments and was a huge financial success.
This poster is an original, US one-sheet from the 1962 launch of the film. A highly sought after piece of Bond/cinematic memorabilia, the poster is complete with the pencilled NSS number in the lower right corner and has been framed with the printer's guides etc still visible. The poster has undergone some minor restoration in the past, it is linen-backed and Ursula Andress' bikini has been re-touched - perhaps her iconic scene as Honey Rider emerging from the sea was a little too exciting for some American teenager back in the '60s. The restoration work is minimal and has been done to a very high standard (see the last photo for a close up shot). The poster has come from a private collection and was professionally framed around 20 years ago - a high quality job that has lasted well, though the frame has collected some minor dents/scuff marks over the years.
