About this item

These works were painted by George Walter Williams (1834-1906) of the famous Williams family of artists. George Walter Williams, who died in a poor house and buried in a pauper's grave, exhibited just 81 paintings in his lifetime. The artist should not be confused with his contemporary, Walter Heath Williams.
This pair of oval water colors depicting 'Scenes in Surrey' are entitled 'Weybridge to Windsor' and 'Mooring at Weybridge'. These are fine examples of this artist whose works are scarce and are usually found only in the museums and galleries of the United Kingdom.
