About this item

Cyril A. Farey
Design for an Art Deco office building, (1932)
Signed ‘Cyril A Farey Del 1932’

Pencil and watercolour

A glorious and large drawing of an as-yet-unidentified art deco building. The cars are shown on the left side of the road, so this presumably is in the UK and likely to be London. This picture is classic Farey, with the reflections in the foreground and the washed-out Mediterranean sky. Although there is no bus, there are impressionistic figures and cars busying themselves in London life and a hint at the surrounding cityscape in the reflections in the windows of the lower floors.
