An early example of an Arthur Osborne 'Ivorex' plaque / picture, featuring a scene in relief of the Jews House in Lincoln.

The picture has the faint AO in the bottom right hand corner.

Earlier Arthur Osborne prints were predominantly produced with an all over sepia wash as is the case with this one, later on other colours were used on the plaques.

It has brass eyelets and a thick string cord for hanging.

Arthur Osborne started his production in the late 1800's and patented the Ivorex trademark with his system of creating these small works of art, the process involves in short a mold of plaster of Paris being dipped in a wax and hand painted or stained, there are a number of designs and they are highly collectable.

They were named ivorex due to the unfinished piece resembling ivory, some information on the history of Arthur Osborne and Ivorex can be found on the Internet.

The frame is a part of the sculpture itself.

This is one if the earlier designs pre 1906, it is in very good condition for the age, some surface scratches on the reverse.
