A decorative cast relief Old Testament scene of 'Rebecca at the well' by Paris born Alexandre-Pierre Schoenewerk (1820-1885). Schoenewerk was a pupil of David d'Angers and was named a Chevalier of the French Legion d'Honneure in 1873.
This relief is a copy of the original and is cast in 'fictile' ivory, a kind of plaster, possibly by Giovanni Franchi (1811-1874).
